Find your inner Ziggy

“If you are just safe about the choices you make, you don’t grow.” -Heath Ledger

Heath has always been one of my favorite actors. Heath, like all of my heroes dared to be different and to challenge the norm. He didn’t go for the expected or the standard. He pushed the boundaries just like David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, John Lennon, and so many other memorable artists and human beings we remember.

Normal. No one remembers it. At Joyryder, we celebrate the differences and the quirks in everyone who walks through our doors. We are always looking for growth and finding joy in the weird and the peculiar. Technically, we are a fitness studio but much more than the sweat, we aim to create a transformative experience inside a dark room. We are going for growth and every time we turn up that resistance we are taking a risk to step out of the habitual, the safe, and the normal.

This is my very first blog post. In this post, I want to introduce myself. I’m Dana, one of the owners here at Joyryder. Years ago I wrote a one person show and I even starred in it. That was very scary! So, a blog shouldn’t be scary, right? Well, it is for me. I am choosing to just go for it today. I’m choosing to commit to writing this blog if it’s the last thing I do. (I have been putting it off for almost two years.) That’s my step today to move into the unknown and out of the safe and habitual. I am inviting you all today to look inside for your own inner Ziggy Star Dust or Sasha Fierce and take a moment to celebrate what makes you different. Remember, “you can always change the road you’re on.” What choice will you make today that creates growth? What risk will you take today? How will you find the joy in your quirks, rather than condemning them?

    Well written 👍🏻
When the media focuses on how divided we are. We have more in common w/ each other, than different.

Perfect words to start your blog. I enter the dark room of amazing music and inspiring words and leave feeling like I’ve been through 45 minutes of therapy! I’m a true addict and love it every time.

We were in AVL on weekend getaway and the weather wasn’t cooperating to hike. We stumbled upon Joyryder and it was AMAZING!!! Wish there was a spin workout like that back home in Tenn.
